Eze Or Zeke

Eze or Zeke?

Patriots’ Elliott Embraces New Position

But will he start?

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. — Ezekiel Elliott has always been a running back. But with the New England Patriots, he’s willing to embrace a new position.

The Patriots signed Elliott to a one-year contract in March, and the former Dallas Cowboys star has been working out at wide receiver during the team’s offseason program.

“I’m just trying to be a versatile player and help the team win in any way I can,” Elliott said. “I’m willing to play whatever position the coaches ask me to play.”

Elliott is a three-time Pro Bowler and two-time NFL rushing champion. He has rushed for over 1,000 yards in each of his first six seasons in the NFL.

But the Patriots have a crowded backfield, with Damien Harris, Rhamondre Stevenson, and James White all returning from last season.

So the Patriots are looking at Elliott as a potential weapon in the passing game.

“He’s a great athlete with good hands,” Patriots coach Bill Belichick said. “We’re just trying to figure out how we can best use him.”

Elliott is still learning the wide receiver position, but he’s making progress.

“It’s a lot different than running back,” Elliott said. “But I’m getting more comfortable with it every day.”

Whether Elliott starts at wide receiver or running back remains to be seen. But he’s confident that he can make a significant contribution to the Patriots.

“I’m just going to work hard and try to earn my spot on the team,” Elliott said. “I’m excited to be a part of this organization.”

Conclusion

Elliott’s willingness to embrace a new position is a testament to his versatility and his commitment to the Patriots. He’s a talented player who could make a big difference for the Patriots in 2022.
