Mavericks Avoid Sweep, Force Game 5 of NBA Finals

Desperation Fuels Dallas Win Over Boston

In a thrilling Game 4 of the 2024 NBA Finals, the Dallas Mavericks fought off elimination, defeating the Boston Celtics 118-80 to keep their championship hopes alive. Despite trailing 3-0 in the series, the Mavericks showed resilience and determination, handing the Celtics their first loss of the playoffs.

Luka Doncic Leads Mavericks' Charge

Luka Doncic, the Mavs' star guard, played a pivotal role in the victory. He put up a dominant 31-point triple-double, including 10 rebounds and 11 assists. Doncic's all-around performance kept the Mavericks in contention throughout the game.

Dallas also received valuable contributions from Reggie Bullock (17 points) and Dwight Powell (16 points, 10 rebounds). The Mavericks shot an impressive 52.8% from the field and hit 14 three-pointers, connecting on 40% of their long-range attempts.

The Celtics, on the other hand, struggled offensively, shooting just 37.4% from the floor. Jayson Tatum, Boston's leading scorer, was held to 13 points on 5-of-16 shooting. The Mavericks' defense, led by Dorian Finney-Smith and Jalen Brunson, locked down the Celtics' high-powered offense.

With the win, the Mavericks have avoided a sweep and forced a Game 5 in Boston on Friday. The Celtics, still holding a 3-1 lead, will look to close out the series on their home court. However, the Mavericks have shown that they are not going down without a fight, and they will have the momentum heading into Game 5.
